Winners of the 39th annual Neptunian Woman's Club's Student Art and Photography Contest
A varied and lively collection of student art filled the Joslyn Community Center on Sunday, at the exhibition of the Neptunian Woman's Club's 39th annual Student Art and Photography Contest.
The contest was open to all Manhattan Beach K-12 students. After pieces were selected from the schools by a five-person committee, three professional artists from the community came to select the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
Ribbons were given to all artists, while 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners received cash awards.
The contest dates back to the first "Art Tea" organized in 1978 by Elizabeth Dorsey, who had a vision of giving every student in Manhattan Beach recognition for his or her talent. The event has grown each year, with this year's contest receiving more than 160 entries.
