The Beach Cities Health District has released its triennial community health survey and wants to hear from Manhattan Beach residents: How are we doing? What are our community's biggest health concerns?
The survey aims to better understand local health needs, which guide BCHD's health priorities, programs and service offerings that are offered in response to community needs.
The online questionnaire captures zip code-specific information and
unique perspectives of community members regarding their health and what
they view as the biggest health challenges facing the community. Questions include issues of personal health, and perceptions of what residents feel the biggest health challenges are facing the community. (Drug and alcohol use? Nutrition? Mental health?)
(Using past metrics, Manhattan Beach appears to be in pretty good shape. According to the latest Well-Being Index poll conducted by Gallup and presented to Beach Cities Health District, Manhattan Beach's community well-being score was the highest recorded in the country, and in fact the highest ever recorded since Gallup began the survey in 2008.)
This information and specific data indicators in the triennial survey will
be used to compile BCHD’s 2025-28 Community Health Report, which
provides district-specific (Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo
Beach) health information.
“The Community Health Survey provides direct community feedback and helps us engage with our residents, delivering important data to ensure our programs best serve our community,” said BCHD CEO Tom Bakaly in a statement. “We are grateful to the many residents who take the time to complete our health survey and help guide our decision-making process to deliver health services that meet their needs.”
BCHD administers the survey and produces its Community Health Report every three years. The report also includes indicators from the United States Census, Gallup National Well-Being Index, California Healthy Kids Survey, California Health Interview Survey, Southern California Association of Governments Reports, and Los Angeles County Health Survey.
Visit https://www.bchd.org/healthsurvey to take the survey, which can be completed in about 20 minutes. The last day to complete the survey is Friday, August 23.
