Manhattan Beach-based Skechers on Monday announced a pledge to donate more than $1 million to wildfire relief efforts.

“Skechers is more than just a global brand. We're a company with a heart, and Los Angeles is our home," wrote Skechers President Michael Greenberg in an internal memo to employees. "While the road ahead may be challenging, I want you to know that our commitment to this community extends far beyond this immediate crisis. We will be here, supporting the long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts. Thank you for your resilience, your compassion, and your unwavering spirit. We are LA Strong.”

Skechers has pledged to provide monetary donations and goods to several local and national organizations, including:

American Red Cross

Baby2Baby

California Fire Foundation Wildfire & Disaster Relief Fund

Pasadena Education Foundation / Eaton Fire Response Fund

YMCA Metropolitan Los Angeles

Among its local efforts, Skechers is collaborating with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation to develop ways it can assist in programs that directly impact Eaton Park.

Furthermore, Skechers is supporting Agoura Animal Care Center and paying for all dog and cat adoptions through Sunday, January 19.

On the national level, Skechers is implementing a national register "roundup" option at its retail stores so that customers across the country can also contribute to relief efforts.

Skechers Active In Local Efforts

Skechers, a Fortune 500 company, celebrated its 25th year as a public company last year.

Skechers president and co-founder Michael Greenberg is known for founding the Skechers Foundation and the annual Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk, which has raised more than $24 million for children with special needs and education. He also helped found the Friendship Foundation, a non-profit mentoring organization; its future Friendship Campus (The Greenberg Family / Skechers Center) which will offer job training, skill building and continued education for young adults with varying abilities; and The Harrison Greenberg Memorial Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to restoring and protecting the Roundhouse Aquarium in honor of his late son, Harrison Greenberg.

At its corporate headquarters in Manhattan Beach, Skechers is in the process of a major expansion of its corporate headquarters along Sepulveda Blvd. Designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, the new buildings will double the company’s office and showroom space in Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach.
