The Show Girl: Book Event at Pages

Local author Nicola Harrison will be appearing at pages: a bookstore for her new book The Show Girl. The Show Girl was just featured on GMA.com as one of the new books out in August to add to your summer reading list. It’s also been called a Most Anticipated Book of Summer by Travel & Leisure, Veranda, PopSugar, PureWow, Brit +Co, and more.
ABOUT THE SHOW GIRL: It’s 1927 when Olive McCormick moves from Minneapolis to New York City determined to become a star in the Ziegfeld Follies. The tremendously gifted singer and dancer has been working toward this her entire life and it takes every bit of perseverance and grit to finally make it on stage. When she does, the experience lives up to everything she imagined and more—making the sacrifices along the way worth it. She quickly learns that to be a Ziegfeld girl, is to be the fantasy of many men in New York City. She relishes the attention and craves the exciting nightlife scene that comes with her new career. Then she meets Archie Carmichael, a handsome, wealthy, and enlightened man who admires her independent spirit and drive for success. She falls for Archie, accepting his proposal for marriage and believing him to be the kind of modern man open to marrying a woman whose dream in life is not to have a litter of children, but to have a fabulous and fulfilling career. As engagement preparations begin and Olive is introduced to Archie’s high society friends and family traveling from Manhattan to his compound in the Adirondacks, his tune and expectations for her as a wife begins to change and Olive must decide if she’s willing to reveal a devastating secret from her past and sacrifice the life she loves for the man she loves.
