Mira Costa High School's Drama/Tech program presents its spring musical production of Bright Star, running from April 25 to May 3, 2025. This Tony-nominated musical, written by and featuring the music of Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, will feature more than 60 Mira Costa students performing on stage, working behind the scenes, and playing in a live orchestra pit; and the original Broadway set, props, and select costumes.

Set against the backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and '40s and based on a true story, Bright Star focuses on literary editor Alice Murphy and her connection to a young soldier returning from World War II, who awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past—and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives.
