Teen, Parenting, and Caregiver Groups Offered at Counseling Center

This
month, teens, parents, and caregivers will have an opportunity to
attend group sessions catered to their interests and needs at the
Manhattan Beach Community Counseling Center. The teen and parenting
groups will run at the same time, making it convenient for members of
the same family to attend their groups simultaneously.
All groups will
be led by associate marriage and family therapists, supervised by a
licensed marriage family therapist.
The sessions will be held at the Manhattan Beach Community Counseling Center, which is located at 303 S. Peck Ave., on the second floor of the community building at Manhattan Beach Community Church.
Teens
The teens' support
group is designed for teens to have a friendly, safe space to share
their experiences and learn about a variety of topics including stress
management, depression, anxiety, relationships, social media, body
image, and self esteem. The group is open to all genders ages 14-18. $10 per session. You can sign up for all six sessions or just those
that are convenient. The group will meet on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:30 p.m. starting February 12 and ending March 18. Courtney Sheets, AMFT 104769 will lead this group,

Parents
The parents'
support group is designed for parents wanting to learn new skills,
discuss parenting challenges, engage with other parents, and develop new
coping skills in a safe therapeutic environment. The group will meet on
Wednesdays from 5:00-6:30 p.m. starting February 12 ending March 2. The cost is $10 per
session and as with the teen group, you can sign up for one or all sessions. The topics will be as follows:

Positive Parenting: Creating a safe, happy and secure environment for
children. Learn new skills for dealing with difficult emotions,
improving self-esteem, and strengthening family bonds.
2/19 Drugs, Vaping and Alcohol Use in Preteens and Teens.
2/26
Parental Anxiety and Depression. Group will discuss parents' struggles
with self-doubt, guilt, anxiety and depression related to parenting.
3/4 Technology Use for Children and Teens. Establishing healthy boundaries related to technology.
The group will be facilitated by Brenda Perry, AMFT 10576 and

Caregivers
The caregivers'
support group will provide a nurturing, supportive gathering created to
relieve the isolation of caregiving and connect participants with
resources, practical strategies and each other. The group will meet
on Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. from February 12 to March 18. The cost is $10 per
session and you can sign up to attend any or all sessions. This group
will be facilitated by Nicolette Cautero, AMFT 100759 and supervised by

the past 25 years, Manhattan Beach Community Counseling Center has been
offering low-fee counseling services for people seeking help with
life's challenges. An outreach program of Manhattan Beach Community Church, the counseling is provided by
dedicated pre-licensed clinicians. The therapists have completed their
Master's level programs and are fulfilling the 3000 hours requirement
needed to be a candidate to take the Marriage and Family
Therapy licensing exam. They are supervised by licensed family
therapist, Jeannie Beaumont. Counseling services are provided to
individuals, couples, families, and groups. Children, teens, and adults
alike have all benefited from services at the counseling center. This month's groups are funded in large part by
grants from Beach Cities Health District.
