The Manhattan Beach Unified School District has named Luke Olesiuk, who had been serving as vice principal at Manhattan Beach Middle School, as the school's new principal this week.
“I look
forward to working alongside all of you as a partner in education to
ensure the success of all our students and celebrate the achievements of
our incredible school community,” said Olesiuk in a statement.
Before
coming to MBUSD, Olesiuk was the assistant principal at Center Street
Elementary School in El Segundo. He also served as a Title 1
coordinator/assistant administrator at Adams Middle School in Redondo
Beach and has taught elementary science and all levels of middle school
math.
In an earlier profile by MBUSD, he shared, "The
teachers and staff at MBMS are some of the most knowledgeable and
dedicated I have had the privilege to work with. Despite all they have
on their plates daily, there are no shortages of smiles, positive
comments, and jokes to keep the days moving forward."
Olesiuk replaces Jennifer Huynh, who was named
the new principal at Mira Costa last month.
At last week's meeting, the school board also named Scott Hughes as a vice principal at Mira Costa High School. Hughes had been serving as the district's Visual and Performing Arts Teacher on Special Assignment, working to elevate and support arts education.
