City Council Candidates Tackle Questions at Forum

Oct 18, 2024 09:26AM ● By Mb News Staff
The six candidates for three open seats on the Manhattan Beach City Council took on questions at a forum on Thursday night. Links to video of the event are provided below. A transcript of the event is posted here on the MB News site: Candidate Forum Transcript.

The forum was co-sponsored by Manhattan Beach News, the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the League of Women Voters of the Beach Cities, which provided a moderator.

All six candidates - Steve Charelian, Joe Franklin, Karen Komatinsky, Joe Marcy, Brenda O'Leary, and Nina Tarnay - participated in the discussion.

The candidates were given a chance to introduce themselves, and then each had a minute to respond to questions submitted by the audience.

Questions ranged from noise complaints about leaf blowers, to the candidates' experience with budgets and debt management, city/school collaboration and the potential local impact of the state's Proposition 2 (school facilities bonds).

A complete video of the event (which was streamed live on Zoom) is available on YouTube here at the MB News YouTube page.

As MB News celebrates 10 years online, this was the first such forum we've hosted. We're looking forward to continuing to do so in the future.
